Review:
Rueben (Ben Stiller), a risk assessment analyst, has his
life planned very carefully and hes found the perfect
girl to marry, Lisa (Debra Messing). On their honeymoon,
Lisa has an affair with her scuba instructor (Hank Azaria)
and refuses to go back home with Rueben. He is shattered,
but his best friend (Philip Seymour Hoffman) convinces him
to go out a few weeks later. At an art gallery showing,
Rueben runs into a woman, serving drinks, he hasn't seen
since grade school, Polly (Jennifer Aniston) and they begin
to date. Polly is a free spirited, scatterbrained young
woman who doesnt like commitment of any kind. She
loves to take risks as much as Rueben tries to avoids them.
Dating, at first, is hard, but Rueben sees something in
Polly that he cant let go of. Then, Lisa comes back
and wants Rueben again. He has a difficult choice to make.
Lisa betrayed him, but he thought that she was perfect for
him. Polly is so different from Rueben and she doesnt
even know what she wants from life. There is some sexual
content and crude, bathroom humor. There is also some language
and drug references. The movie does a good job of showing
that we cant plan out our lives just so. People we
meet and events that happen to us will change our most carefully
laid out plans. For the most part, this movie is simply
funny in a dumb sort of way like Theres Something
About Mary. If you enjoyed that movie you will laugh
out loud at this one.

Linda
Thomas is a native Minnesotan. She graduated from
the University of Minnesota with a double major
in sociology and psychology. Married with a family,
she has remained in the Minneapolis area.
Linda has been a lover of movies since she
was a small child. This love of film eventually
brought her to the point in life where she is
now, a film critic. She was featured on WCCO
radio for three years on the Dark in the
Morning show with Dark Star.
In December of 2001, Linda became the film
critic for the syndicated Ruth Koscielak
Show.
Linda sees over 150 movies a year and has
had the opportunity to interview a number of
directors and actors when they are in town.
She has also appeared on a public access show
called the "Cinema Judge" and has
ventured into writing for "Cinestar"
magazine in September 2002. The Twin Cities
movie magazine is available, for free, at most
local Blockbuster's and local movie cheaters.
Her website is: www.lindathomasmovies.com
As one of the few female reviewers in the Twin
Cities area, she brings a unique point of view
to her reviews. Linda has raised two children,
a boy and a girl, and knows what they like in
movies and what is appropriate. Hopefully, her
reviews will help your family in choosing where
to next spend your movie-going dollar.
